On the basis of original models, photographs, historical films and objects, the exhibition displays three playgrounds designed by the Basel artist Michael Grossert (b1927, lives and works in Paris and
Basel).
In 1967 the artist made a sculptural playground for the Aumatten Primary School in Reinach near Basel. He had been asked to do so by Rudolf Meyer, the architect of the school building. It was to be a square internal yard and play area, which Grossert turned into a walk-in sculpture, a play-in landscape of sculptural concrete objects, whose colours he designed together with the Basel painter Theo Gerber. The Aumatten sculptural playground was restored with the cooperation of Grossert in 2009.
In 1971 a climbing sculpture of about thirty yellow, red and blue polyester elements was built for the settlement on Moosjurtenstrasse in Muttenz near Basel. The polyester elements all had the same propellor-like form so that they could be piled on top of each other like Lego pieces, and they were so light that two children could lift them and shift them. About half the elements were fixed in place while the others were free for use. The fixed climbing sculpture still exists today, but it is in poor condition a needs to be restored.
The third playground design, in 1974, was a proposal for a play landscape of polychrome concrete for the Résidence Grétillat in Vitry-sur-Seine, France. This project was never realised, but the model has been preserved.

Die Ausstellung zeigt anhand von Originalmodellen, Fotografien, historischen Filmen und Objekten drei Spielplatzgestaltungen des Basler Künstlers Michael Grossert (*1927, lebt und arbeitet in Paris und Basel).
1967 realisierte der Künstler für das Schulhaus Aumatten in Reinach bei Basel einen Spiel-Skulpturenhof. Er war dazu von Rudolf Meyer, dem Architekten des Schulhauses, angefragt worden. Es handelte sich um einen quadratischen Pausen- und Innenhof, den Grossert zur begehbaren Plastik machte, zur bespielbaren Landschaft aus skulpturalen Betonkörpern, die er in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Basler Maler Theo Gerber farblich gestaltete. Der Spiel-Skulpturenhof Aumatten wurde 2009 in Zusammenarbeit mit Grossert restauriert.
1971 entstand eine Kletterskulptur aus rund 30 gelben, roten und blauen Polyesterelementen für die Siedlung an der Moosjurtenstrasse in Muttenz bei Basel. Die Polyesterelemente hatten alle dieselbe propellerartige Form, sie konnten wie Legosteine aufeinander gestapelt werden und waren so leicht, dass zwei Kinder sie heben und verschieben konnten. Rund die Hälfte der Elemente wurden fest installiert, die anderen standen zur freien Verfügung. Die fest installierte Kletterskulptur existiert heute noch, sie ist jedoch in schlechtem Zustand und müsste restauriert werden.
Die dritte Spielplatzgestaltung war 1974 der Vorschlag für eine Spiellandschaft aus polychromem Beton für die Résidence Grétillat in Vitry-sur-Seine, Frankreich. Dieses Projekt kam nicht zur Ausführung, das Modell hat sich aber erhalten.
